The Rajyoga Education and Research Foundation (RERF), established in 1982, is a sister organization of the Brahma Kumaris. It serves various sections of society by offering specialized courses designed to promote spiritual, mental, and social well-being. The Rajyoga Education and Research Foundation (RERF) operates through numerous service wings, each dedicated to addressing specific societal needs.
An Initiative of Agriculture & Rural Development Wing of RERF
Yogic Farming involves village practices, agronomical practices, plant nutrition management (e.g. biofertilizers, rearing of earthworms, bio composting, etc) plant protection (biological control practices, organic pest repellents, integrated pest management, etc). It integrates thought-based meditative practices with organic farming. As the power of yoga has been a treasure trove of India, it can play a pivotal role in resuscitating both organic farming and farmers from the shocks of agro-chemical-based agriculture.
Experiments on Power of Positive Mind i.e. Rajyoga Meditation by the Agriculture and Rural Development Wing of RERF has evinced the power of meditation and pure feelings. These positive vibes are recognized by the plants, nature, microbes, fauna, and flora culminating in ameliorating effects in production, quality, and above all reduced cost of production. Thousands of farmers have adopted Yogic Farming and are expected to usher in a new horizon in consonance with the rich traditions of India for ensuring the welfare of farmers, farming, and the environment.
The Brahma Kumaris (BKs) have organized various rural outreach programs to educate and empower people on topics such as hygiene, health, de-addiction, eliminating superstitions, self-empowerment, self-esteem, and family values.
Focused on environmental protection and sustainability, these campaigns emphasize the link between human consciousness and environmental well-being. The Brahma Kumaris also serve as a member of the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and actively celebrate World Environment Day across thousands of centers.
During natural disasters, the Brahma Kumaris provide both material and spiritual aid. Brahma Kumaris have offered extensive relief and rehabilitation during events such as the Gujarat earthquake, the Tsunami in Tamil Nadu, and floods in various parts of India.
The Brahma Kumaris (BKs) have conducted hundreds of health exhibitions, medical camps, and fairs across India. These initiatives focus on educating people about the mind-body-medicine connection, raising awareness of psychosomatic illnesses, and highlighting the role of Rajyoga meditation in overcoming addictions to tobacco, alcohol, and harmful drugs. Additionally, free health check-ups are provided during these events.
For the past few decades, a team of specialist doctors has been conducting 5-to-7-day camps for heart patients, diabetics, and individuals with similar health conditions. The patients are systematically guided to learn and practice healthy lifestyle habits and Rajyoga meditation.
The J. Watumull Memorial Global Hospital and Research Centre in Mt. Abu, Mumbai, Vadodara, and other locations is designed to provide high-quality, modern, holistic healthcare services in a tranquil environment. It is managed and supported by charitable trusts associated with the Brahma Kumaris.
The Global Hospital and Research Centre at Mount Abu offers free or subsidized treatment and medicines to 100,000 people annually, including 54,000 tribal residents from 855 remote villages. Its village outreach program provides basic healthcare services in 10 villages in Abu, and nutritional mid-day snacks are offered to a few primary schools.
Brahma Kumaris centres, in addition to offering free meditation and self-development courses, promote universal brotherhood and actively work with local communities in various ways. These centres conduct awareness campaigns on health, education, de-addiction, and environmental conservation. During major festivals and public occasions, they collaborate with other local groups to organize fairs, cultural events, tableaux, exhibitions, rallies, and public talks, aiming to enhance people’s quality of life through the application of spiritual, human, and ethical values.
There is also a growing demand for the skills and services of the Brahma Kumaris from public organizations. For example, in Mumbai, the municipality entrusted several neglected public parks to the BKs for maintenance and revitalization. Today, these previously derelict parks have been transformed into beautiful spaces for recreation and spiritual education.
The organization conducts mass awareness campaigns targeting children aged 11 to 16, particularly those studying in classes 7 to 9, as part of the “Touch the Light” project.
This project was initiated in 2007-08 across almost all states in India, benefiting children in classes 7, 8, and 9. Thousands of schools have participated through mass campaigns and personal contact programs, reaching over 50,00,000 students nationwide.
Lakhs of prisoners have been guided on the path of spirituality, transforming their lives and helping them rediscover their true humanity. While imprisonment may distort or obscure their inner selves, the addition of a spiritual dimension fosters values such as dignity, compassion, and forgiveness, offering prisoners a renewed sense of hope and purpose in life.
The eternal face symbolizes innocence and purity, the traditional face represents security and protection, the modern face embodies searching and questioning, and the face of Shakti signifies power, self-respect, and transformation.
Women in need are empowered to develop self-esteem and self-reliance through self-employment programs. Workshops, training sessions, mutual consultations, and the sharing of success stories help women understand their roles in society while contributing to their economic development. Rural women, in particular, gain vocational training in skills such as sewing, cooking, handicrafts, and nursing, creating numerous employment opportunities.
